Yogi is one of five German shepherd puppies in his litter. Yogi’s parents, Hunter and Jessie, are purebred German shepherds certified through the American Kennel Club (AKC). Faith, Yogi’s breeder, donated Yogi to Capital K9 Association, a non-profit 501c3 based in New Jersey that provides ballistic vests to law enforcement K9s.
Recognized from the beginning
Eddie Rolon, a K9 trainer based in New Jersey, and part of Capital K9 picked Yogi up for DSK9 after speaking to Paul’s daughter Chellsea, about his need for a German shepherd. Eddie began developing Yogi’s obedience. Yogi soon had an intense drive for drug detection work in South Florida. As Eddie said, “He is going to be perfect for drug detection.”
In March 2017, Paul flew to New Jersey and stayed for several days to transition Yogi over from Eddie. Paul, with Yogi riding passenger, drove back to South Florida. Paul talks about the drive with Yogi. He drove straight through excited and ready to begin a new chapter. In addition, Paul couldn’t believe how incredibly behaved Yogi was on their 19-hour drive. Once arriving in Florida, Yogi took a few days to settle into Paul’s home.
The journey began
Paul’s and Yogi’s Drug Sweeper journey officially started when they enrolled in school in March 2017. In June of that year, Yogi and Paul enrolled in International K9 College where Paul and Yogi met retired Palm Beach Sheriff LT Robert Anderson. Bob was exactly what DSK9 needed. Quickly, Bob helped take DSK9 to the next level. Bob has a highly decorated background. Furthermore, he has a wealth of training knowledge and working with professional dogs. Not to mention, Bob is an incredible human being. Bob’s credentials include Level III Nation Police Dog Trainer Certification. Finally, Bob is a Nationally Certified Judge/Chief Judge and has overseen numerous trials all over the U.S.
Yogi performed exceedingly well in his courses. After many hours of training, he and his owner/handler Paul were certified by the International K9 College. Yogi is a certified drug detection dog and has been imprinted on a long list of illegal narcotics, as well as many prescription medications and synthetic drugs that are being abused today. Yogi’s mission is to save lives. Above all, Yogi is extremely talented when searching for drugs.

DRUG SWEEPER
Drug Sweeper is a K-9 drug detection service. Our drug detections dogs are highly trained and certified. Therefore, they are able to locate a variety of street drugs. Narcotics detection dogs are also able to locate prescription medications. Our dogs alert their handlers by sitting down whenever they find drugs.
